YELLOW LINES - MAKES YOUR VIEWS KNOWN

The consultation period and details about proposed ‘No Waiting’ Yellow Lines for this area are now available online for viewing and commenting upon (before 14 December 2018).
The best link we can find is to this document at  https://goo.gl/JLgdP6 . The proposals can also be viewed in person at Cheltenham Borough Council, Municipal Offices, The Promenade.
SPJARA approves of these proposed yellow lines, both because they will improve safety by improving sight lines for all road users and because they will remove obstructions to pedestrians. The lines in question are:
1.Junction of Painswick Road and Ashford Road (Ref. 490567)
2.Junction of Grafton and Gratton Road (Ref. 490564)
3.Junction of Grafton Rd and Edward Street (Ref. 490563)
4.Junction of Gratton Road and Brandon Place (Ref. 490565)
5.Junction of Gratton Road and Edward Street (Ref. 490564)
As well as junctions, there are proposed yellow lines (REF. 490561):
1."For a section on the southern side of the road across the access to Greville House"
2."For a section on the southern side of the road across the access to Morgans Drive"
3."For a section on the southern side of the road across the access to 14a and 14b Grafton Road"
SPJARA has already submitted several comments and suggestions on details - see Autumn 2018 newsletter at www.spjara.org.uk/newsletter .
As this is a Conservation Area, we asked that the lines be narrower than usual - 50mm versus the normal 100mm -and painted in a paler colour than bright yellow. We also asked that the lines should be only as long as necessary and as short as possible to avoid unnecessary loss of parking. We have been given the assurances we sought.

ACTION:
We would encourage all who live in our area to support the yellow lines by writing or emailing before 14 December . To make that easier, here is a suggested text that you might like to cut and paste to use as a start point for your support.

SUGGESTED TEXT

SUBJECT: Ref: HBL/66824
I would like to express my support for the yellow lines that are proposed in the various places in the SPJARA area (Ashford Road, Painswick Road, Grafton Road, Gratton Road and Edward Street). I believe they will have a positive effect on road safety by preventing parking too close to the various corners thereby improving sight lines for all road users and removing obstructions to pedestrians. We also welcome your intention to modify the colour and width of the lines as these are within a Conservation Area.
