“Shaping Cheltenham’s Future”
 
A one day conference on Friday 9 June 2017, Pittville Pump Room, Cheltenham GL52 3JE
 
What sort of town do we want Cheltenham to be – today … in 2027 … in 2050? The future is in the hands of the people who choose to contribute their views and ideas. To make it easy for you to get involved, Cheltenham Civic Society is holding a one-day conference following the publication of Cheltenham Borough Council’s Place Strategy.
 
This is an opportunity for local voluntary groups, business leaders and interested members of the public to examine the implications of the Strategy and contribute to the debate. 09.30    Registration and coffee
10.00    Welcome and introductions
10.10     The Place Strategy
A series of short presentations from Cheltenham Borough Council, The Cheltenham Trust, and a selection of other organisations
11.15    Coffee break
11.40    Working groups
Delegates will have an opportunity to join one of 10 working groups, each considering the implications of the Place Strategy for a different aspect of the town, e.g. Education, Retail business, Transport, Festivals, Urban design etc,
12.15    Plenary session
Groups report back on their findings.
13.00    Lunch break
During the lunch break delegates will be invited to cast votes for a selection of 8 development priorities and to suggest others that they think would benefit the town.
13.45   Plenary/Panel session
Findings from the morning and lunch sessions will be discussed and appraised by a panel including some of the earlier speakers, leading to a set of practical conclusions and outputs
